The best way to put your finger on the beating pulse of the Karst and to get a taste of the life of its inhabitants is by attending one of the numerous events and festivities, or just by visiting one of the towns, as the locals will be sure to give you a warm welcome.

Alongside the numerous natural and cultural points of interest and the pearls hiding beneath the Karst surface, it has to be noted that its location makes the Karst the perfect starting point for taking a trip to either the Slovenian or Italian coast. The nearby Adriatic is an ideal opportunity for an active excursion. Just a few minutes’ drive is all it takes to get to Piran, Portorož, Koper, Izola, or Strunjan, with the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. The Italian side of the border also has numerous hidden gems, especially Sistiana, Devino and the authentic fishing village Villaggio dei Pescatori. Trips to nearby Trieste or Venice are also just a short drive away.
