THE MAKERS OF THE BEST TERAN, THE TERAN WITH A DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN
The Association Consortium of Karst Teran Makers brings together the teran makers of Karst who have undertaken to follow the highest standards in their process, making the best teran wine – the so-called Teran PTP, with a recognized traditional denomination.
The Consortium has for a number of years ensured the highest quality of Karst teran, while its members regularly present their accomplishments at tastings, fairs, presentations, etc. The quality of teran wine keeps improving every year.
The Consortium of Karst Teran Makers had 24 wine-makers when it was founded in 2005, and was headed by its founder dr. Miran Vodopivec for a number of years. After a short leadership run by Boštjan Zidar, it is now headed by Boris Lisjak. The Consortium brings together 26 members, including the viticulture and wine making expert Majda Brdnik, the head of the Sežana Agricultural Advisory Service Milena Štolfa, both employed at the Nova Gorica Institute of Agriculture and Forestry, and the “doctor of teran” dr. Miran Vodopivec, who have all been of great and constant help to the Consortium.
