Lipica is one of the most pristine green pearls of the Karst, the home of the Stud Farm with more than four centuries of history.
In 1580 became the stud farm to the court, which makes it one of the oldest stud farms in the world, and a unique piece of cultural and natural heritage. During the reign of Maria Theresa of Austria the Slovenian classic horse breed, the Lipizzaner was developed. It is known for its white-gray color, its noble posture, and elegance of movement. These characteristics made the Lipizzaner riding school one of the most famous and respected globally. Today the Stud Farm has more than 400 Lipizzaner horses and hosts numerous events every year, such as the international dressage competition.
Golfers will also enjoy Lipica and a visit to The Valley of Our Lady of Lourdes is also interesting, where an open air church is located in a sinkhole.
